During the 2010 election cycle the number of women in Congress dropped for the first time in 30 years. Now just over 17 percent of Congress is made up of women, paltry representation when women are over 50 percent of the population.
This month WIE (Women Inspiration & Enterprise) responds by highlighting the eleven women running for Congress in 2012. WIE is hoping to spread the message and support “these courageous, powerful, and inspiring women” such as Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Baldwin, Dianne Feinstein, and others.
From the campaign, “WIE is about recognizing extraordinary women and inspiring positive social change. We want to continue the transformational impact that women are having on national politics.”
This is a call to action. WIE hopes that you will participate by engaging your networks to help put 11 more women in Congress.
