Under Ann Miura-Ko’s management, FLOODGATE has invested in many women-led startups.

VC fund FLOODGATE announced today closing a $75M fund for investment in early-stage high-growth ventures using technology to accelerate business.
At FLOODGATE, Ann Miura-Ko led the investment in ModCloth (co-founded by CCO Susan Gregg Koger) and sits on the boards of FLOODGATE portfolio companies including Chloe + Isabel (founded by CEO Chantel Waterbury), TaskRabbit (founded by CEO Leah Busque) and Wanelo (founded by CEO Deena Varshavskaya), to name a few.
Speaking of successful women-led exits, FLOODGATE portfolio company Kongregate, co-founded by SVP Emily Greer, was acquired by GameStop in 2010. FLOODGATE invests $150,000 – $1,000,000 at a time in high-growth investments. Check out the fund’s informative FAQ for entrepreneur seeking investment.
Ann co-founded FLOODGATE in 2010 with Mike Maples, an early investor in startups like Twitter and Digg. Forbes reports that “according to Maples, he and Miura-Ko are highly complementary: while he is continually optimistic and quick to believe what he sees, she is value-oriented and, like us, approaches venture capital investments by assimilating mountains of data.”
Ann Miura-Ko earned her Ph.D. in Quantitative Modelling of Computer Security from School of Engineering at Stanford Unversity in 2010, and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 1998.
And thanks to venture capitalists like Ann Miura-Ko at FLOODGATE and Aileen Lee, Partner at KPCB (and soon to be Chief Wrangler at new seed fund Cowboy Ventures), we can see women-led high-growth ventures are securing funding and going big.
