By Rachel Weiss (VP Digital Strategy, L’OrĂ©al)
L’OrĂ©al Women in Digital has had a fantastic inaugural year. We officially launched the program in July celebrating female tech entrepreneurs as part of our Next Generation Awards. Now, we are thrilled to be moving the program forward with our partner Women 2.0 by attending our first Founder Friday in Boston.
The Boston Tech Community holds a very special place in my heart, as they were my first advocates to spread the word about the L’OrĂ©al Women in Digital Program. Investors like Rudina Seseri from Fairhaven Capital and Joe Medved from Softbank (who now lives in NYC) introduced me to so many people demonstrating the power of connections and introductions.
Katie Rae from TechStars serves on our board and helps us identify companies. Jennifer Lum, an investor and woman in mobile (not enough!) comes to all of our events. And, two of our first class of winners hails from Boston – Bettina Hein, founder of Pixability, and Sarah McIlory, founder of FashionPlaytes!
All of these people have become my mentors and advisors embodying how important it is for women and men to support one another and the people in Boston are not only really talented but also really generous.
I’m really looking forward to meeting entrepreneurs from the Boston area. The L’OrĂ©al Women in Digital program is only going to continue to grow and we know that our Boston connections are only going to be stronger.
