Applications for PITCH SF 2013 Startup Competition are still being accepted on a rolling basis until 10 finalists are selected!

A few weeks ago, Women 2.0 opened applications for the PITCH SF 2013 Startup Competition, inviting women-led startups from around the world to apply for a chance to pitch onstage at the Women 2.0 conference on February 14 in San Francisco.
Prizes for the competition include a meeting with an investing partner at Andreessen Horowitz along with a host of startup-friendly services.
Today, we are announcing the first PITCH SF 2013 Startup Competition finalist! New York-based Maker’s Row is a platform that makes factory-sourcing easy for designers and manufacturers.
Maker’s Row co-founder Tanya Menendez is a California native currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to Maker’s Row, she worked at Goldman Sachs on automation projects, and left Goldman Sachs to become a co-owner at The Brooklyn Bakery, which supported a network of local factories and other small businesses.
She started Maker’s Row to solve Brooklyn Bakery’s problem in sourcing factories: “It would take us months to find the right factory [as we were expanding the Brooklyn Bakery business], so we decided to create Maker’s Row to solve this problem for other small businesses.”
An online marketplace for American manufacturers and designers – Maker’s Row holds the mission to make American manufacturing easy to access and simple to understand. The startup hopes to inspire the next generation of American businesses to think domestic first.
