Tech designed by sitcom stars? Far out Halloween costumes? IPhone apps that smell like bacon? Futuristic traffic tickets? This week the links doing the rounds at Women 2.0 HQ definitely veered towards the unexpected, but that’s what we love about tech — it’s ability to surprise us and transform our lives in ways we could never have foreseen.
- We love dressing up for Halloween and we love geeks dressing up for Halloween even more!
- At our upcoming conference we’re discussing how tech will impact our sensory experiences. For example, how about an app that wakes you up with the smell of fresh brewed coffee? (Personally, I’m holding out for the app that wakes you up with the actual coffee!)
- Last week it was Lady Gaga’s manager getting into venture capital. This week it’s Ashton Kutcher becoming a “product engineer.” Would you buy a tablet designed by the guy from That ‘70s Show?
- Profits are overrated, says VC Fred Wilson.
- Is driving with wearable tech as much as a menace as driving while texting? One cop, at least, thinks so.
- Twitter apparently has gotten the message about its all-male board.
- Sallie Krawcheck of 85 Broads offers lessons in power networking.
- Conference keynote speaker Megan Smith talks about battling unconscious bias to make the tech industry more inclusive.
- 50 fearless minds changing the world, including female founders like Angela Benton, Kimberly Bryant and Keya Dannenbaum.
