We are thrilled that Sandy Lerner, co-founder of tech giant Cisco and cosmetics company Urban Decay will be joining us and presenting the morning keynote at PITCH NYC Conference.
Founder of Oxygen Media, Geraldine Laybourne, will be presenting the afternoon keynote at PITCH NYC Conference.
As we’ve announced earlier, Match.com and TRUSTe founder Fran Maier is a keynote speaker at PITCH NYC Conference as well, along with a full roster of successful women startup founders like Sandy Jen (CTO of Meebo, acquired by Google), Michelle You (CPO of Songkick, funded by Sequoia) and Limor Fried (CEO of Adafruit Industries, up for Entrepreneur.com Entrepreneur of the Year). Keynote: Sandy Lerner (Co-Founder, Cisco & Urban Decay)
Sandy Lerner was part of the team that developed the first commercial router while studying for a master’s degree in statistics and computer science from Stanford University, later to co-found Cisco Systems in 1984. A campaigner for animal rights, she founded Urban Decay Cosmetics in 1996, which spotlighted animal testing.
Sandy Lerner now owns and operates Ayrshire Farm, 2,000 acres of certified organic and certified humane farms in Virginia, whose mission is to farm sustainably and profitably, promoting the benefits of locally produced, humanely raised meats and organic produce to the consumercommunity through education and outreach.
Her numerous achievements include the establishment of the Chawton House Library which houses The Centre for the Study of Early English Women’s Writing, 1600-1830, located at the Elizabethan manor house in Hampshire that as once owned by Jane Austen’s brother. An avid reader and scholar on Jane Austen, Sandy Lerner spent 26 years writing “Second Impressions.”
Keynote: Geraldine Laybourne (Founder, Oxygen Media)
Geraldine Laybourne founded Oxygen Media in 1998, launching the Oxygen cable network in 2000. She served as Oxygen Media’s chairman and CEO until it was sold in 2007 to NBC Universal for $925 million.
Oxygen filled a void in the television landscape – a television network targeted to younger women – the only women-owned and operated cable network.
Geraldine Laybourne sits the boards or advisory committees of The National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Symantec Corporation, Electronic Arts, JC Penney, Springboard Enterprises, Move.com and mySkin. She also started Global Women’s Mentoring Walks, a mentoring program pairing establishing and emerging women professionals.
Keynote: Fran Maier (Co-Founder, Match.com & Founder / Board Chair, TRUSTe)
As a co-founder of Match.com, Fran Maier established credibility, safety, and trust in online dating, making Match.com the leading online dating service. In executive marketing roles at Women.com and Kmart’s BlueLight.com subsidiary, Fran both established new startup online brands and brought blue-chip offline brands onto the Internet. She is on the board of Springboard Enterprises.
More recently, Fran Maier is Founder and Chair of the Board of TRUSTe, the leading privacy trustmark and solutions provider. Fran Maier’s career, which has included roles as CEO, CMO and General Manager, has made her an experienced agent of change and growth, particularly in companies that build brands and results by establishing trust with online consumers. In addition to her expertise in online privacy and data security, she is also known for her expertise in social networking, brand building and marketing. Fran joined TRUSTe in 2001 and drove the expansion of TRUSTe’s business, product portfolio and brand.
