We’re in the final, hectic stages of conference planning, so we need all the fuel we can get to drive us towards the finish line. This week that’s been several less than awesome stories swirling in the media. All-male boards? A lack of progress in gender diversity? A plague of “wantpreneurs”? All the more reason to put on a kick butt, inclusive event! Plus, good news out of Las Vegas and Hoosuite brightened things up. Here’s what we’ve been passing around the office this week:
- It’ll come as no shock that Twitter’s all-male board was a hot topic of discussion this week. Especially given the fact there is no shortage of qualified female candidates or those who could bring something uniquely valuable to the company.
- Speaking of Twitter, maybe you heard its origin myth. The New York Times claims to have the real story.
- It’s sad that this could pretty much run today: a 1985 IBM ad making a plea for more gender diversity in tech.
- Sin city? Nope, try startup city. Las Vegas isn’t just the locale of our next conference, it’s also increasingly a tech hub.
- Wantpreneurs, “a localized, vocational epidemic of World War Z-esque proportions”?
- How Hootsuite is helping to solve the pipeline problem.
